Becky J. Downard Named a VIP Member of Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Business Management

WELCHES, OR, January 18, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Becky Downard, President and Chief Executive Officer of MyPlaceToLearn, was recently named a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

As the president and CEO of MyPlaceToLearn, Ms. Downard specializes in human resources, content development, problem-solving, and relationship building. She is responsible for overseeing the production and sales and marketing departments, as well as managing client relations. Ms. Downard was born and raised in a small town in the foothills of Mt. Hood, Ore. Her family owned and operated a twenty-seven hole golf course and convention center for more than 40 years. From the beginning, Becky understood the long-term importance of excellent customer service, and the enormous impact that education and training can have on the bottom line.

Becky spent more than 15 years as the head of Human Resources at historic Timberline Lodge in Oregon. In that role, she saw first-hand how an engaged and valued workforce can drive organizational growth, a concept best expressed in MyPlaceToLearn's motto, "If knowledge is power, then training is empowerment." As an experienced "end-user," Becky brings a unique perspective to her training, matching organizational need with employee development in creative ways that both build employee commitment and increase employee competence. Ms. Downard completed coursework in accounting and finance, business management, and human resource management. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and was recently named Alpha Sigma Lambda through DeVry University for outstanding academic achievement.

In the months to come, Ms. Downard intends to grow the business by addressing the top challenges faced by HR professionals; change management, leadership development, and HR effectiveness measurement, by providing effective communication tools, development of Human Capital at the organization level, and developing meaningful benchmarks and measurement tools to help HR professionals fulfill their changing role of strategic partners in the corporate decision making process.
